![]() ![]() Utopians are very simple, but smart people. Money has no value there, they even devalue it more by letting slaves carry large necklaces and bracelets made out of pure gold to punish them. Utopia is a communistic country, where no privat-property excists. In book two Raphael tells all the details about Utopia, about the strange laws, values and habits there are in Utopia. More and Gilles are very interested and they want Raphael to tell everything about Utopia. Raphael also tells about an island called Utopia. More is getting acquainted with Nonsenso, they go to Gilles' house and they talk about the journeys Raphael made. More is in Antwerp to take care of some business, and runs into his friend Gilles. The narrator is, of course, Raphael Nonsenso.ĩ. Thomas More is also a very witty person and also a philosopher.Ĩ. Raphael and Thomas weren’t really discussed, although I do know that Raphael travelled around the world and is a philosopher of some sort. Peter is the person introducing Raphael to Thomas, and is described to be a very kind and loyal man. Main characters are Thomas More, Raphael Nonsenso and Peter Gilles. His story takes place around 1500, he tells the entire story while sitting on a bench with two other men one of them being Thomas More.ħ. All of the anekdotes and explainations are accually one big flashback. ![]() The story is told by Raphael Nonsenso, a traveler who lived in Utopia for over five years. The genre is, I guess a fine mixture of fantasy and ideology.Ħ. In real life, this perfect world doesn’t excist, therefore its name.ĥ. In the book, Utopia is a perfect organised country, it’s practical Communism, and is accepted by its inhabitants. Throughout the entire book (woordspelingen) are used freely, and Utopia is one of them. Utopia comes from the Latin word Utopos, which literally means a non-existing place.
